I'm primarily a Flash developer- but need to do lots of HTML as well (of course!) and haven't come across a more thorough example. I agree that there are a lot of issues right now; including historical cross-browser junk and now these new codec issues. It's really too bad and I think things really have to change for HTML5 video to be universally usable. I would take issue with your assertion that implementing video playback through Flash is horrible- but I'm coming from that side of things so admit my bias. Again- nice to see this all laid out!
